Obama and Women Veterans

President-Elect Obama embraces Tammy Duckworth, female Iraq War vet and director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, following a Veterans Day ceremony in Chicago. Duckworth lost both her legs when the Black Hawk helicopter she was co-piloting was shot down by insurgents in Iraq in 2004. It is a compelling image that offers hope for recognition of women's roles in combat and their needs when they return home from war.
